Striking square flat dish with a purple background and turquoise/deep blue chunks of glass melted into it.

A striking ‘frit migration’ dish which I made by sprinkling purple glass powder over a square piece of 6 mm clear glass. I then randomly dropped pieces of coarse glass into the powder, using turquoise, white, deep blue and clear glass. When the glass melted in the kiln, the colours ‘migrated’ as the glass fused together, leaving a purple outline on many of the coarse pieces. Once it cooled, I put it back in the kiln to slump the glass in a mould. This created a relatively flat dish with turned up corners. It could proudly sit in a stand on a shelf or window ledge, or simply on a table.
The dish is 16 cm square.
It weighs 429 gm.
