I call this my piano key dish. It is a one-off, never to be repeated design. I fused together a stack of white and black squares to make a solid brick. Then I cut the brick in thin strips to make the piano key effect, and fused them around the edge of the opaque black dish. To make this dish I needed to use four kiln firings, one for each process. If you look closely, the edges aren’t perfectly even, making it look handmade and not factory produced. I personally think that quality makes it more attractive, and an unusual conversation piece! How many people in the whole wide world have a piano key dish?! This is the one and only.
The dish is 28 by 16 cm.
It weighs in at 802 gm.
